In 1974 Steve expanded the operation by adding a second store in Everett, Washington, at that time employing about 16 people between the two stores.
In 1980 the Lynnwood store was expanded by about 5600 sq ft with what is still the most modern dismantling facility in the Seattle area. The company was then employing about 22 people.
In 1986 the first computerized auto dismantling inventory system in the Seattle area was installed.
In 1992 the decision was made to expand again. A new plant was established in Quincy, Washington.
In 1995, Ferrill’s expanded again by opening a new location in Tacoma, Washington. This new facility allowed Ferrill’s to better serve its customers that are south of Seattle and on the Olympic Peninsula. Ferrill’s Tacoma operation opened with approximately ten employees.
In 1997 it was decided that Ferrill’s should concentrate in its major market area, so the operation in Quincy was closed to allow the company to better serve the I-5 corridor.
In 1998 Ferrill’s Auto Parts, Inc. made another change in the way that it did business. The full-service operation in Tacoma was shut down and then re-opened as a self-service operation d/b/a “Pull A Part” under the management of Mindy Ferrill.
The self-service operation in Tacoma has been such a success that by January 2000 the store in Everett was also converted to a Pull A Part as well. Continuing in the same pattern, the Lynnwood store was converted in January 2001.
Ferrill’s Auto Parts, Inc. continues to be a leader and innovator in the automotive recycling field. The store in Lynnwood holds a 5 star EnviroStars company and the Tacoma store achieved a four star EnviroStars rating as well. While in operation the store in Everett was a 4 star EnviroStars operation.
In 2005 the property in Everett sold and another piece of property in Arlington was acquired. That piece of property is also a Pull A Part and will allow the company to better serve our customers in the North end of the Seattle metro area.
October 22, 2007 Pull A Part in Arlington opened and is currently the most modern and environmentally advanced self-service yard in Washington. The corporation moved its headquarters from the Lynnwood facility to Arlington at that time.
Ferrill’s now employs a total of 53 employees.
